Cross country ski sizing is primarily based on your weight, not just your height. The ski needs to have the right camber (stiffness) to support your weight for kick and glide. Check the manufacturer's size chart or contact us with your weight and height for a recommendation.
Waxless skis (fishscale or skin) are popular for recreational skiers because they require less maintenance and provide reliable grip in most conditions. Waxable skis offer better performance but require applying kick wax appropriate for the snow temperature. For most beginners and casual skiers, waxless skin skis are the best choice.
Classic skiing involves a forward striding motion (kick and glide) in groomed tracks. It is easier to learn for beginners. Skate skiing uses a motion similar to ice skating or inline skating and requires a wider groomed trail. It is generally faster and provides a more intense workout.
